Actually you're wrong. The benefit of cross play is to play with any of your friends regardless of platform they're on. If someone owns an Xbox or Switch as their main console because those games suit them better, then they can play the same game with another friend who might feel PS4 is better for them. That's the scenario you're not quite getting. This isn't about you or me specifically, we aren't the be all to end all. Overall it's always a positive thing to be able to play with more than one community, regardless if you yourself think it has no benefit.

Your opinion isn't moot, all opinions should be listened to, but it is clouded in bias against the other two companies. Let that part of you go, criticize Sony when it's rightfully so to do so, like in this instance and that's that. I expect the same from Nintendo and Microsoft fans to call out their respective companies when they do dumb stuff too, only logical

Not bias against the other companies at all! If MS and Sony wanted to cross-play and Nintendo didn’t I’d defend Nintendo. Because my stance is that it’s not that serious. When Sony fans shined that MS didn’t want to participate last gen I had the same stance: “What difference does it make?”

I see your point about friends wanting to play with each other across platforms but if that was so important to you in the first place why get a console that you knew none of your friends have? Cross-play is good in that regard but ultimately it’s a want, not a need.

This is where something called individuality comes into play. Not everyone likes the same console nor do they like the same games. As stated in my previous comment I stated some people might like Switch titles more, some people might like PS4 titles more and some might like Xbox titles more, its all subjective to that persons own personal feelings.  People are going to go with what they prefer and that will separate them from friends who like the opposite. That's just everyday common place.

The ''its just a want, not a need''. Well that can be said for everything in life. You don't need a console, you don't need specific games. You don't need this or that through the majority of your life but you ''want'' and ''get'' stuff because they bring you enjoyment. That's the main point. You losing focus on the bigger picture and trying to categorize what everyone else wants based off your own personal opinion of what should be the norm, rather than look at it from the perspective of people who are in an entire different scenario that you are
