Corporations are more hooked on money than junkies on crack. The movie made something like 350 million dollars if I'm not mistaken and they call that a flop. It's gotten to the point that if a movie doesn't make more than a billion dollars it's a flop.

This movie is less successful than the others in the franchise granted but calling it a flop when it made 350 million dollars. Has the dollar depreciated so much that 350 millions is nothing?

The movie probably lost 200M by now. Production cost plus marketing were around 450M, add to that overhead, taxes etc. and consider that cinemas take 50%(?) of these 350M and you get a big fat loss.

But it's projected to go all the way to 900 million dollars according to OP and it's still a flop. EVEN if I admit that this movie costs 450 million dollars which is absolutely insane (if I were in charge I'd fire IMMEDIATELY the guy in charge of finance and spending), even admitting this, with 900 millions you still make money even with a very badly managed budget and a total price tag of 450 million dollars to make the movie.
