This is all Disney's making, part of Solo's terrible BO performance is 1) fan backlash from TLJ & how the franchise is being handled in general, and 2) rushing another "prequel" / origin story out with production issues. I bet if they waited till the holidays to release the film it would have done much better at the BO, but for some reason they insisted on releasing the movie right smack in the middle of a packed summer schedule and a mere 5 months after the last SW film.
