Which goes to show the problem with The Last Jedi is mainly they took Luke in a direction a good chunk of the audience did not enjoy and the film in general was not as "feel good-ey" as The Force Awakens, which people loved or as much fan-pandering as Rogue One had. But both of those have a female lead with diverse casting and people loved both of those films. TLJ's problems stem from a script that is too controversial in how it handles Luke mainly and doesn't have a satisfying enough of an ending. Solo is probably the least diverse and least political Star Wars film in ages, and it is not resonating with audiences, so those aren't the issues alone. Lucasfilm has to be careful with these spin-off movies, just because you slap Star Wars on something doesn't mean big box office, Star Wars: The Clone Wars also flopped in theaters. |
I didn't get a good look at the deleted post in question, then. It was the in someone's retweet, and then it was "Deleted by the user".
