-The removal of random encounters for Pokemon

You think that wild Pokemon finally being visible in the overworld is a bad thing?!

-Return of the walking grid system, no allowing free-form movement (This one is the most ridiculous change, especially when Sun/Moon got rid of it)

First of all, X/Y was the game that introduced free-form movement, or ORAS if you think bikes and skates don't count.

Secondly, did you even watch the trailer? It was incredibly obvious that the player characters were not restricted to moving on a grid.

This is like a nightmare scenario.

The alternative is that no Pokemon game releases this year. Game Freak already explicitly stated that the actual Gen 8 is coming out next year, and it won't have simplified mechanics or Go integration. Why are you so upset over a spin-off? This was supposed to be Gen 7's empty year, so nothing has changed in the core franchise's release schedule.

1) It should be a mixture of both. Not one thing or the other.

2)  I'm not counting bikes/rollers skates. Pokemon ORAS is grid based. I suggest you go watch a gameplay video to rejig your memory.

The trailer never had the trainer moving in any other direction other than exactly up/down or exactly right/left. It's quite obvious to tell that it's grid based.

3) The thing is, it's Game Freak that is working on this spinoff. They are wasting their resources and development time on the genwunner/casual crowd, when they should be focussed on the core fabase.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.
