If they want to have broader box office appeal they are going to have to change some things. The Skywalker saga needs to end as it requires too much investment and nostalgia on the 70s/80s which people in China for example don't care for. A few other things.
1.) Cancel Obi-Wan + Boba Fett films, no more yearly Star Wars and certainly not twice a year (which is probably what they were trying to test run with Solo). No more standalone films unless it's a concept you're sure is going to make big money.
2.) New trilogy set 200 years in the future, no Skywalkers, no Solos, no old planets.
3.) More modern tone, more charismatic lead characters. Thor, Starlord, Tony Stark, even the new Spider-Man are all funny characters, even T'Challa is self-deprecating and funny at times. Disney wants Star Wars to compete with Marvel they need a more self aware, charismatic, funny lead or co-lead character. Star Wars *really* struggles without Harrison Ford too IMO, the movies become very dull without his personality. Guardians of the Galaxy would be a good template to look at.
4.) Maybe even consider killing the "trilogy" concept. Seems to me like this just leads to people skipping the 2nd chapter. If you keep it an on-going thing that isn't limited to three film arcs, you can probably make more money.
Not advocating for this, just saying if you want to be cynical and just focus on making money, the above would probably get it done.
