Pokemon is a big franchise they'll have plenty of resources at their disposal, so much so that they'll continue Pokemon as a yearly franchise even in the HD era with a break only occurring rarely every 3+ years.
2020 games will likely either be a gap year, enhanced/sequel version or sinnoh remakes, both of which would use the gen 8 engine not the let's go engine.
Also no main-ish Pokemon game has failed miserably even USUM was a big success. Even if they continue the let's go series as something more than one console generation I'd still be happy, they'll still just as much as RPG Pokemon game as any other.
