The thing with the Switch that is different from Wii or Wii U is the software buying habits of the Switch audience seem more diverse and more core centric third party games are doing well. Looking on Amazon right now, the Switch version of Megaman 11 has way more pre-orders than PS4 and Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection is selling best on the Switch system, despite SF being heavily associated with the Playstation brand of late (SFV exclusive) |
Yes, a 2-D platformer like Megaman who was in Smash 4 will do better on the Switch. I don't think anybody should be surprised by that. In terms of Street Fighter 30th Anniversary, the PS4 version shows "Shipping in 2-4 weeks". I don't know about you, but if I see a game on Amazon that is already released and the shipping estimate shows 2-4 weeks then I'm not likely to make a purchase.
I'm going to quote Symbios most recent post instead of linking since I don't think many people will click the link, and this information is EXTREMELY important to understand regarding 3rd parties interest in the Switch.

What does this show? With Nintendo publishing 11 games on the Switch, about 10% of the total retail games released on the Switch, they have 70% of the total software sales. That's the reality. On PS4 Sony published games don't have 70% the total software sales. There is far more parity between first party and third party software sales. The Switch may have a massive userbase but if that userbase only buys Nintendo published games 70% of the time that leaves only 30% for all the other publishers to fight over.
