It might increase hardware sales of the Switch and Nintendo makes very good profits on hardware compared to Sony and Microsoft and perhaps those who buy a Switch to mainly use pirate games will buy the occasional retail title. Besides ongoing with the next revision the problem will likely be sorted with a new custom version of Tegra without this exploit so future consoles may be ok. I must admit I had a ps1 and original xbox with modchip and loved the freedom to obtain games that I couldn't normally play back then. The original xbox was great as you could install a larger hard drive and install your games to it so never had to find the original disc. The emulator scene for it was fantastic and just really enjoyed the original xbox.

The issue for me personally with the Switch as a wii u owner is there are few games I actually want on the system as many are wii u ports and only Mario Odyssey really appeals currently so for me it seems fairly pointless to buy a Switch and hack it to run backups when there are few games I actually want to play. I don't know how many must have titles there are for other people but would of thought the library quite small especially if you have come from wii u with a decent library on that. I guess if its a hacked system anyway and the wii u ports are effectively free you can play them but I'm personally not interested in revisiting them that much. Portability isn't a big thing for me and when I need it I need a slightly smaller console than the current Switch and perhaps when they bring out the revised smaller Switch you won't be able to hack it anyway.

The one thing that is bad about the current Switch situation is a fully hacked system means the firmware will be ripped apart and understood in a year or so, so even future Switches without the hardware exploit maybe hackable with all they find out. It will still be much more difficult though on later Switches I would of thought and still may not be possible.
