So ... I've been quite busy lately with my anime journey!

I watched Houseki No Kuni and man, is that show really great! I'd never seen a CG anime, mostly because what I had seen looked really bad or awkward and stilted. But man, Land of the Lustrous went beyond my expectations! Nearly every character was great ... there's not many anime from my perspective that have such a wide and good cast. Mostly though I was impressed by how good it got in the second half. The first half was good, but the world building got a lot better by the middle of the show ... Antarcticite was my favorite ...

After that I watched Devilman: Crybaby. Which also was pretty good. I loved the directing, this and Ping Pong really impressed me in that department and it makes me want to go back and watch Kaiba and Tatami. I felt it was a bit rushed and some of the plot was really contrived, but the themes were great and I loved the animation (yes, even the art style). The soundtrack is obviously one of the higher points ... man ... that opening might just be the catchiest I've ever heard!

Now I'm watching Little Witch Academia(TV) and Gankutsuou: The Counte of Monte Cristo. Little Witch is ok, kind of progressing in it slowly since it's episodic so far and thus it's quality is pretty inconsistent episode by episode. It's a nice feel good show though. Gankutsuou on the other hand ... downright one of the best anime I've ever seen thus far. It's a little bit sappy and melodramatic but the way I'd describe it ... it's like you're watching a play, except it's actually good cause it's anime. It's got a "Chowder" art style to it with it's clothing. Only problem is it's REALLY ugly at times because of the flat almost drab color palette (which seems pretty common in early 2000's anime) and the 480p native resolution. There are times where even the shiny bright beautiful shots are ugly as hell .. and it's unfortunate. It's also got early 2000's CGI on occasion, for stuff like Chariots and backdrop buildings ... yuck. Still like a 9/10 so far, it's that good.

Next I want to watch Eve no Jikan (Time of Eve). Literally never heard of it until today ... well yesterday now I guess but ... it sounds so fascinating! Very excited to get to it since it's only 6 episodes.
