Being bundled and a huge focus in advertisements is the exact opposite of being in the background.

Ok, well it didn't work that time anyway. Super Mario Bros. is what sold the console pretty much. The NES wasn't a success when ROB was sold with it. But if you want to use that as whatever you are arguing, then sure.
