Yes it is, I am speaking of PC's as PC's are today in the hands of most PC gamers...
But if you wish to take machines like the ZX Spectrum/Commodore into account then fine. First those are not the FIRST computers in history so my point still stands: Computers are NOT originally gaming machines, they got adapted and the ZX/Commodore are LATER adaptations.
Also one could further argue that since those machines are immediately plugged to a TV and a controller they are more like consoles than PC's proper, versatile consoles one could say since they allowed for functions that go beyond a simple console... And then again nowadays consoles go way beyond what a Commodore could do so for all practical purposes I see a Commodore more like a console than a PC proper. But I suppose you could argue that.
