Is the implementation of a 'like' system beneficial of detrimental?

I think it's nice. It gives the ability to voice agreement without having to post exactly the same thing as someone else, and it allows you to better see how much support (silent or vocal) there is for certain views. Also, as there's no external incentive to create posts just for likes, it shouldn't have any big drawbacks either.
