Please elaborate on why you think a fighting game character wouldn't work in a fighting game like Smash, while there are other characters with similar abilities or moves that currently do work. 

Because Smash is a commemoration of gaming (a "gaming all-stars" if you will), so the moment you start to include non-gaming characters, the whole concept falls apart.

But Goku is a gaming character. Or was I lied to when I played all those games that he appeared in?

Those weren't games? They have no place in gaming history because their characters originate from a manga?
