i've said and i'll reiterate that we use a particular measurement of atmospheric pressure to determine where space is

dude its not my problem that you don't understand how concepts like linear time and "present" work
i don't even think that an 8 year old has this kind of difficulty with these concepts lol
i'm pretty sure that by that age i can talk to an 8 year old and say "wow you're getting big how tall are you" and they'd answer understanding that i'm referring to their present self

The airplane orbital velocity thing is how people came up with the common definition of 100 kilometers.  If you are using some weird personal definition, then whatever. 
atmosphere --- very little atmosphere (gray area) --- absolute edge of atmosphere : no Earth air after this
