With the last one coming out AFTER the new generation started. A sequel to a sequel of a mainline game releasing on a last generation coming after the new generation begins is more likely the answer then blaming lighting. Lighting definitely did not leave a good first impression but neither did Squall; Just as unlikely as Lightning and the worst FF protagonist on the PS1 entries and up to that point, and series went on. |

I'm just very very happy that they moved on from XIII and they're trying new things.
