1. It is a direct to Netflix movie.
2. Yes, it would have flopped in theaters so straight to Netflix was a good decision.
3. It does create a really interesting backstory to the Cloverfield universe. Something that can spawn a large number of interesting stories. I could see this turning into a series of sorts.
4. It had good, funny, and cringe-worthy moments. All in all, I enjoyed it but glad I didn't buy movie tickets to watch it. I think I enjoy it more because I like the intent behind the Cloverfield universe, which was not to just make another Kaiju film.
