I'd say the game has very high highs and low lows, but unlike you, I think the former far makes up for the latter. Narrative and artstyle were fantastic, though admittedly subjective. Menus and combat ware marked improvements over the previous games, I honestly can't remember the last time I felt so absorbed in a game's combat system. Character movement and navigation are fair points, though aren't really significant issues to me. The special field skill things can burn in hell though. Honestly just letting the field skills trigger based on your whole Blade list rather than simply equipped Blades would make it infinitely more tolerable..really hope they update that. |
I'd argue I'm in the situation as you. The fact that the game feels and plays like a Xenoblade is more than enough for me, no matter all the annoyances it may have.
My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.
