The Switch is a better console and it's getting a lot more great games. It really isn't that hard to understand.

How is the Switch a better console when people buy it to play so many Wii U games? Wii U right now is so much cheaper and offers Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, Smash 4, Xenoblade X, Wind Waker HD, Splatoon (almost the same as Splatoon 2), Tokyo Mirage, Yoshi's Wolly World, Wonderful 101, ZombiU, Paper Mario and many indie games BESIDES all the overpriced Wii U ports on Switch (Hyrule Warriors, Donkey Kong, Bayonetta 1+2, Mario Kart, Zelda). While Switch itself after a year only has 2 or 3 original high quality games.

Are people hesistant to buy a Wii U because it has the ''Wii'' brand or something? Who cares about that when it offers so many quality games at a way cheaper price and the same performance on a technical level? Buy and enjoy Wii U for the coming 2/3 years. Then buy a Switch when it offers more original content and not at an absurd price of 320 euros without a game.

When I said 'better console' I was referring to the console itself. The Switch is basically what the Wii U should have been. It's a full handheld and a full console at the same time, instead of the weird mix that the Wii U was.

Sure, the Wii U's library might still be better. But the Wii U is dead. It won't get a single new game anymore. The Switch on the other hand, is only one year old. Its library will end up being way bigger and better than the Wii U's.

The Switch already has enough to offer to keep people busy. Not only has it some must-play exclusives, it also has some of the greatest games from the past few years ported to it (both from the Wii U and other consoles). A lot of people haven't played these games yet, so they're like new games to them.

Not everyone would want to wait years for a price cut, and just sit their with their old console while everyone else is playing the cool new stuff. Money isn't that important for a lot of people. I mean, there are millions of people who pay €1000 for a phone.
