Shadow1980 said: This has probably been gone over already, but if what Magicpork on ResetEra is right, then we can make some approximations for year-end sales based on his ratio for combined Q2-Q4 sales. We know that the Switch sold at least 3.9M for the Q2-Q4 period, so that gives us the following for the others: PS4: 4.29M XBO: 3.59M 3DS: 1.87M We never got 3DS numbers for Jan. or March, but we do have Q1 figures for the PS4 & XBO, which means we can estimate that they have sold, respectively about 5.3M and 4.2M for 2017 as a whole. If true, this also means the PS4 had an absolutely massive drop both month-over-month and year-over-year for December. In fact, it was enough to prevent 2017 from being the PS4's peak year in the U.S., though 2017 as a whole was still up from 2016. It would also explain a good chunk of the PS4's year-over-year decline globally from Dec. 2016. Sony really should have kept the PS4 at $199 during the entire holiday period. I won'd update my charts until we get something a little more concrete. |
3DS is over 2 million in 2017 for sure, no way it sold less than 130K in the first quarter of the year.
That's really good for a 7 years system!
