Well, I finally started on some winter 2018 anime and the ones I started on are Ryuuou no Oshigoto! and Pop Team Epic.
Ryuuou is the light novel based anime about the high schooler who becomes one the highest ranked shogi players in the world but goes into a funk after winning his title. Then he meets an elementary girl who wants to become his pupil. And so starts this seemingly comedic anime of the high school shogi master and this lil kid.
-1st impressions are.. I'm not so sure. Perhaps due to watching Sangatsu as well makes this one seem outlandish, which I guess isn't necessarily a bad thing. The elementary girl is cute and funny, so that's a plus. The main lead's design looks bland in comparison. I'll give this one another episode or 2 before deciding whether to continue or drop it...
The 2nd anime, Team Pop Epic, is a bizarre one to say the least. It feels like a Japanese adult swim cartoon, which can be seen as bad. It's quite random with strange short gag moments and weird animation styles. If you read the manga, you'll know what to expect. This one I feel is gonna be a niche hit and miss one. I didn't like how it repeated the episode, but replaced the male voices with female ones.
I'll be sure to talk about other winter anime I check out.
