TLJ will probably end around $600 million or so domestic, which is may a tad lower than what Disney would want but I don't think it's that terrible of a result.

It would be probably be closer to $700 mill if Rogue One didn't come out last year and you kept the franchise fresher and allowed hunger to build up.

I tend to prefer to use the general rate of inflation rather than ticket inflation. The problem with using ticket inflation is it's a double edged sword for modern movies. Yes, a single ticket eats up more money, but the downside to that is because movie tickets are a more pricey proposition today most people rarely see the same movie twice anymore, let alone 3/4/5 times as was common in the 70s/80s/90s/earlier part of 2000s.

And yes, Empire is a fairly large drop off from ANH in both original release and for the Special Editions too.
