There are two types of fantasy world-building.  First, the kind where the author creates a harsh environment and then drops the character into it to fight and claw their way to their goal.  I like this type.  Second, there is the kind where you can actually see the hand of the author reaching down to construct everything around the character, no matter how ridiculous, in order for them to easily do whatever it is they want.  This is the kind often dreamed up by 12 year old boys who go by online screen-names like "CLOUDxGOKU".

Grancrest whatever falls into the latter category.

Mitsuboshi colors is sad. Like someone really wanted to make a new Ichigo Mashimaro but just fails on all levels. The jokes aren't deadpan enough, the seiyuu performance is lacking, there are no compelling side characters and the visuals are just all over the place.

Granted, Ichigo Mashimaro is a fucking masterpiece. But it makes me wonder, where are all the comedy masterpieces gone? Why isn't there another Azumanga Daioh, Pani Poni Dash, Zetsubou Sensei, Hanamaru Youchien, Renkin san-kyuu Magical Pokaan or Mitsudomoe? Good comedy animes are sooooo rare these days.

You just put Magical Pokaan up with Ichigo Mashimaro and Azumanga Daioh?

Besides, we just had Kono Suba and Aho Girl.

I quite liked Mitsuboshi Colors.  It wasn't super funny but I like the premise and it has a quirky quality to it.  The mangaka is also the writer of a series I like a lot, Hitoribocchi no OO Seikatsu.
