The thing though is MS's narrative has constantly changed since the beginning of this current gen and still continues to change while they try and find their own identity. It wasn't until just September 2016 that Play Anywhere launched. How do you think most of those that bought the one prior felt about that? Had Play Anywhere launched from the get-go, do you think Xbox would of sold much consoles? If consumers knew from the start all they needed was a decent gaming PC and live account that they could play most xbox exclusives, would xbox of sold as well as it did to start off? And yes, anyone buying the console for the past year or so wouldnt care about x1 exclusives on pc now because that's the current narrative with their exclusives. Just like anyone who stays with the og x1 or slim now know they'll have the inferior of all multiplats this gen. It's this majority that are getting the shaft.. weakest system, inferior multiplats, and loss of exclusives. If I remember, 1x is approximately 1mil only of the 30+ mil on OG and slim. And now, these 30+ mil gamers officially own nothing more than a multiplat console. |
The only ones who don't like Play Anywhere are those who use exclusives as a fuel in the console war. Most people don't care like myself as long as I get to play the same games. Play anywhere is a great feature that I've used before when I purchased Cuphead for my laptop. It brings way more good than bad. The only "bad" I can think of is those with a gaming PC already capable of playing Gears 4, Forza, halo wars 2 and so forth. They are the minority.
Nobody with the base X1 is getting shafted. It's called having options. I now have the option to upgrade to the X1 and be able to play all the same games I have or I can stick with what I got and still be able to play all the same games. It's not like they are ignoring the system. They are still releasing all the same games for both consoles. Only way we get shafted is if they stop releasing games for the base x1.
