Open World Survival games are a bad genre in general though. They are plagued with technical issues, poor balancing, etc. I can't think of a single Open World Survival game that was released as a finished, well playtested, experience. 

This is why State of decay 2 will be great because A. It's fixing the issues the first game, adding co-op  B. Unlike most of those games, which start as steam early access, this is backed by a publisher C. Unlike most of those Survival games, State of decay got a sequel.
