PS can do what Nin can, in terms of hardware, based on my reply solely about hardware. They could also try and create similar games as well, but trying to compete with Nin's specific franchises is a challenge in itself. I don't really see PS targeting that specific audience though, since they would simply be looking for customers who like PS and third party games, but want or require a mobile platform to play them on. Having some mobile based games for it would also be a good idea though. I don't think X3 would happen in the next Switch and even if it did, the battery life would be the same as now at best, if not worse, plus the price would be more expensive. Who's going to buy an upgrade like that? Nin would have to wait until like 2025 and by that time the PS Portable will have taken the entire handheld/hybrid market as well. Pokemon will have no choice but to release on PS devices going forward after that.

Pokemon on PS? So why don't you ask for Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, Super Smash Bros, Metroid and all Nintendo first party games on PS also? In 2020, how can you so sure the battery will remain the same? Xavier is this year, 2020 mean 3 years later, the cost will be the same? Just like you are so sure next ps portable will run all ps4/5 games which cost only $250 and last 4-5 hours in 2019 - 2020, why can't i predict Nintendo will release a new Switch at that time? All Nintendo handheld before have upgrade model like GB to GBC, GBA to GBA SP , DS to DSi , 3DS to New 3DS, why won't Switch?

Nin may own certain specific parts of Pokemon, but they only own 33% of the franchise overall. If a PS hybrid took the majority of the handheld/hybrid market share, Pokemon would suffer if it didn't at the very least sell on PS devices, if not only PS devices. You can predict all you want but if a PS Portable can't exist because there isn't enough evidence at this point in time, then neither can an upgraded or next gen Switch. Just because the hardware exists doesn't mean either company will be able to properly customize it, harness it, or use it any time soon, if at all.
