Sadly this happens to every fanbase. We have people trying to downplay Switch success this year and people proclaiming that the X model didnt "save" XBO as if that was its goal.

I know, and it's more than sad, it's pathetic. The Switch is doing great because it's a great console with great games, this is Ninty back at the top of their game. As for the X, some Xbox fans were indeed saying that it would "save" XBO, but they don't represent the entire fanbase, and like you said it wasn't it goal. XBO don't need saving, it's not doing PS4 numbers, but that doesn't mean it's a failure.
