That's not all I said in relation to that. Making sense within the story is just part of it. If they come off as tokens or they are poorly written or the character was just created to fit in a certain person because of their race or sex, the character shouldn't be there. The reason why I pointed out those movie as examples is to show movies where the characters made sense within the story, were well written and likely not chosen just because they wanted them for the sake of diversity or progressivism. They fit the roles well and come off as genuine. That's not the case with the last two main SW at the very least. I liked rogue one alot because it was written better, no plot holes, no breaking of SW canon that I know of and it was well acted.
