There's actually a video that I'll find where Mark Hamill actually says he had to pretend he was somebody else like ______ Skywalker because this character was not Luke. I'll find it in a few. Gotta buy a last minute xmas gift right now

 

Maybe he changed his tune to promote the movie. James Cameron did it for Terminator Genysis (or however you spell it).
