CGI does not always look better than real. So, I supposedly worship Sesame Street, because I know that the Return of the Jedi Jabba the Hutt looked 100% more real that the rubbery CGI Jabba that was created years later? The Grand Moff Tarkin in Rogue One would have looked fine in an animated film like The Polar Express, but looks completely out of place conversing with live actors. Computer generated is not always better. There is a reason why the Special Edition Wampa was still a man in a suit. CGI of living, moving creatures/people in live action films don't blend as well as CGI objects (buildings, space ships, etc). |
I agree they should not add CGI to the OG. It's out of place. Especially 1997 special edition Jabba. Btw they made him look better in future special editions, 2004 and forward -not that the scene has any place in the movies to begin with other than to be like "Look! More Han Solo! That's cool, right?" No, adding shit to existing stuff is stupid and is sloppy. That's like finding a picture you drew as a 7yr old and adding to it later. It's weird, out of place, and ugly. Hopefully the Fox aquisition gives us the original cuts.
No no no, what I'm talking about is that when people complain about CGI in newer SW films. Prequels, yeah the CGI sucked (however the CGI in ep. 1 aged better than 2 & 3 imo).
The CGI in SW 7 & 8 is fine. The only legitimately bad CGI to me, was the... weird round octopus creatures in TFA. Those were friggin' ugly. More than ugly. I think it's the second worst part of the sequel trilogy only behind... Leia doing her... superman shit in TLJ.
Now, like I said, most of those are nitpicks. Except TLJ did confirm Rey is a mary sue, assuming Kylo was telling the truth. Which sucks because I've been defending her saying she was probably a Kenobi of some sort... not so, apparently. Which makes her boring now, to me. Because her being a Kenobi -as unlikely as it would have been, would've been awesome and explained most about her. But no. She's, a nobody.
One thing he didn't mention, and he should've, is how wasted Snoke was. Man, Snoke had soooo much potential -and he was wasted. Yes they could bring him back but in doing so they'd make Kylo look even more pathetic... so he kinda has to stay dead. And... with what happened in the movie, we got, what? Maybe a dozen or so "rebels" (I guess they're rebels now) and maybe... a few thousand First Order troops? What the hell are they gonna do for the next film? This'll be the smallest conflict in the galaxy. Not to mention, a New Republic STILL exists, planets like Corasant are still around. They have their own army if the Resistance fails. Those are glaring issues that should be focused on. Not the CGI, not cranky Luke or whatever. Nah nah, those! Did he mention Phasma? Because that also would be a good point. She's been useless the entire duology thus far and we aren't even 100% sure she'll come back!
