These seem like opposing ideas. Since the screen is used for handheld play, why would an XL with a larger screen be more focused on non-handheld play? I understand that a larger screen would be bulky and thus less ideal for portable, but the screen's sole purpose is for off-tv use and thus handheld-centric. |
You stopped reading my post too soon and missed the rest of the description about docking. I know I’m boring, but I can’t be THAT boring! =P
Portable and handheld are two different things. A laptop or iPad Pro is portable, but not handheld. You sit/dock them and then have your interface hardware laying in front of you or separately handheld (like a gaming controller or remote controller).
The current model of Switch is kind of in that realm where it is small enough to act as a handheld, but also big enough to act as a non-handheld portable system. A smaller Switch would be more ideal as a handheld (but less ideal as a non-handheld), and a larger one would be more ideal as a non-handheld portable (but again, less ideal as a handheld). In addition, bigger means more space for cooling systems, batteries, and therefore more power consuming chipsets.
