Haha Disney are going to kick EA's ass over this.
A developer like Geurilla under Sony would give the IP the respect it deserves.
Yes, that's for sure. But this kind of game would never be an exclusive, it prints money.
Agreed. The problem was they developed GT6 for ps3 only when it should have been remastered on ps4 aswell.
I really don't think the problem is having a spin-off like GT Sport. The problem that got people mad is that they wanted GT7 already. Sport shows us that they are probably 1 to 2 years far from GT7.
Two things would have been better:
A) As you said, develop GT6 as a launch title with a downgraded PS3 version. Sport would be a pit-stop between GT7 and everyone would be super happy.
B) Scrap GT6 altogether. Probably GT Sport would be out for 2 years already and GT7 would be launching. Everyone is happy again.
Anyway, I will have a formed opinion on GT Sport in a few weeks when I get the game. I really hope that I will love it and eat some crow. I really do. I love the franchise, I would be completely happy if I was 100% wrong in my GT Sport criticism.

But Sport IS a pitstop between GT6 and GT7. I don’t think a GT6 with PS2 models and tracks would have been the right thing to do for PS4. It’s the right decision to scrap all that old shit and start from scratch just like Polyphony have done it. It’s just that some entitled “fans” seem to have a problem understanding that.
I am actually happy Polyphony still took their time to make GT6 as it was a much improved GT5. It’s great that Sony was still supporting the PS3 that late in the gen, not like MS, who had basically abandoned the 360 two years earlier already.
It would have been very difficult to make a complex CPU heavy game like GT6 work on PS4. Basically impossible, due to the Cell processor.
The people complaining about the old PS2 models and tracks in GT5 and 6 are the same people who are now complaining about the lack of cars and tracks in GTS.
