Yeah, tell that to the people who still play Melee 15 years after its release.

Personally, I don't see myself getting tired of Smash 4 anytime soon and it's been 3 years, plus its console cycle is already over. Super Metroid is still fun 23 years after. Mario Party 2 is still the most fun in its franchise.

Yeah, and there's people out there that think Trump is doing a good job in office. Just because a small cliche of people enjoy something doesn't make it logical for Nintendo as a business. If you look at the analytics, the overwhelming majority of people move on from games really quickly, DLC or not.

Yeah, because people playing a video game made 15 years ago today is comparable to people justifying the behavior of the President of the United States.

The overwhelming majority move on quickly? Tell that to RockStar about Grand Theft Auto V, which just became the best selling video game of all-time.

Melee is still one of the main attractions of the EVO Fighting Tournament, year after year after year. It's right there with Smash 4.

What would be logical for Nintendo as a business would be to let MK8D continue to sell, milk every last drop it can from that game, and not cut its legs off from underneath with a new entry on the same system. Mario Kart Wii is STILL charting in the Amazon Top 100 despite being over 9 years old and having 2 successors released within that time on two new systems. https://www.amazon.com/best-sellers-video-games/zgbs/videogames/ref=zg_bsar_tab_t_bs#5

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is going to keep on selling for a very long time, it may even have a chance at being the Switch's best selling title. And since it's a port, it'll arguably be the easiest money Nintendo has ever made. So, why would they screw it up with a new entry on the same system?
