You may not notice or care about the visual and performance issues, but they're clearly there. A frame rate in the 20s and constant frame pacing issues is not "smooth in action" especially for a high speed game like Doom.
The DLC is free by the way. So someone buying the game for $30 is getting that too. Plus the Switch version doesn't come with Snapmap.
To reiterate, if you buy the Switch version your buying the worst looking and running version of the game that isn't even feature complete at twice the price. |
The frame pacing is not as bad as DF makes it out to be (or those trying to interpret it anyway). I know from experience that it is smooth. It can drop for a moment or two if things get heavy, particularly arcade mode, but even then it is not for long and does not break the game.
To reiterate, if you want a portable DOOM, this is a great and well performing port for the Switch. If you want full HD, get on another console. It is not that hard to figure out. However it seems you miss the point of current gen 3rd party games on the Switch entirely.
And the full pricetag comes from the effort to port it over in the first place. You seem to forget that there is not a magical "instant port" button that they can press. This is why pretty much all games get charged full price when ported later. Look at The Last of Us, GTAV, Skyrim Special Edition, etc.
Making a portable DOOM takes just as much work as an HD remaster, and in turn is worth just as much.
