A few months back I wrote in a thread that the real question is if the Switch can match DS sales. And Nintendo seems to be aiming for this. I also said Nintendo needs more female gamers and more mass market appeal with the Switch to sell that much. Again, Nintendo is aiming for this as well. It is perfectly logical for them to target a broader demographic next year. That doesn't mean we'll get no core games because Nintendo's resources will be focused only on the Switch in 2018. They can release enough core and casual games.

Next year will probably see the release of Animal Crossing and Pokémon on the Switch. There is no reason why a Switch Sports and a 2D Mario couldn't be there as well and Metroid could be there. There will also be better third party support than in 2017. Nintendo has a lot of resources all focused on the Switch, the only question is: Will they deliver or will they become arrogant again and start to make the games *they* want instead of the games the market wants? We'll have to wait and see. But if Nintendo plays their cards right there is a big chance they'll be the market leader next year.
