and neither had as severe stock issues. the switch is just pacing behind ps4 and Wii worldwide and holidays havent even arrived.

remember yall, if nintendo meets 14 million this FY (resulting in 16.7m total for first 12 months), it will officially set the record for most sales in a console's first twelve months in the market.

Yeah, but PS4 in its first 12 months did 14.4 million WITHOUT any major game releases like a Zelda or Mario (which both came out the SAME year even.) For Sony, that would be the EQUIVALENT of Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us II coming out on launch within the same year lol. Can you even imagine that??? In 2014, the only major release was Destiny at the END of 2014. No big exclusives really until later. Only Nintendo would do something like this after just coming off of the Wii U because they NEED sales. It's like a full-on attack because of the disastrous Wii U "effect."

Would the Switch sell like this WITHOUT a Mario or Zelda??? Who knows but I think likely not personally. We all know PS consoles sell because they are media devices as well as gaming devices.

Note: Also, just for comparison's sake...on a monthly basis, how does the PS4 stack up so far next to the switch? Is it over or under 7 million worldwide???

In the US this year PS4 is slightly above switch at this point, we will see after October though. Worldwide is different because PS4 is MASSIVE in Europe. But yeah, definitely BOTW helped the switch and it was still on track to sell great before SMO. But the best first year ever is still the best first year ever, and the big releases were the way that Nintendo knew they would be able to achieve that. I personally don’t think switch will come that close to PS4 Ltd, and PS4 first year with such releases would indeed be even better than it was, but I don’t think you can undermine switch sales y saying ‘it’s gotten big games,’ because that is kind of the reason Nintendo consoles are bought in the first place I think.
