Great thread and nice update Rol! It was always obvious that the Switch had a good chance of success. I vividly remember the pre-launch era when many people said the Switch would sell less than 30m units (some even suggesting it wouldn't outsell the Wii U). It always seemed strange to me how people could expect Nintendo's market to crumble at such an insane rate.
I think one big factor is that people alway live in the present and don't look at the future - we often are not actually predicting things, just projecting current trends to continue, even if those trends are already changing. Currently it's third party support on the Switch that people are in denial about: the number of games in the eshop is increasing exponentially and many devs are reporting great sales. And yet, some people like to play the "no third party support / third parties not selling on the Switch" card. It's going to be a fun generation, a lot more interesting than when the PS4 was alone at the top.
