But from that one trailer I watched, if it weren't for the Nazi uniforms/flags and the recognizable mannerisms of the Nazi's one would think that the Nazi's were the good guys and you were playing some villainous rebel group trying to overthrow a government.

And I recal reading the comment on that youtube video and every single one is one of two things. "Fuck yea, gonna kill me some Nazi's", or else "lol, look at all the triggered Nazi's in the comments", yet I never saw one comment supporting the Nazi's, but like 20 of them saying somethign about triggered nazi's. 

The whole social buzz around this game has been strange imo

The Nazis in Wolfenstein 1 were pretty awful. Mass killings, torture, human experimentation, labor camps, extreme government overreach in private matters, removal of all personal rights, etc.. If you play the game it is quite hard to get confused about who is on the right side.
