Kekkai Sensen was everything I remembered it being. Unique Lovecraftian setting, amazing visuals, badass German monster man, and just a ton of absurdity. My impression of season 1 was soured a bit by the finale releasing so far apart from the rest of the anime, but overall I enjoyed it. Looking forward to more of this, even if the anime-original girl from season 1 I liked is gone now.

DOUBLE-X!!!!

Also good news, it's on Crunchyroll now. I can probably cancel my Funimation subscription at this rate. Seems like it's only useful for dubs and the occasional show that hasn't been transferred over yet, like Haganai.

Speaking of Haganai, apparently there's an anime airing this season adapted from an LN by the same author, called "All You Need is a Sister" or something in that vein. Did a little reading into it, since I was curious. Don't judge.

If you're not familiar with it, Haganai (I Don't Have Many Friends) was a pretty fun comedy harem from a few years ago. While I'd say the anime was enjoyable, the light novels go in a rather unique direction, one which seemed to be extremely unpoplular (at least...I've yet to see anyone that actually enjoyed it). I had a ton of issues with the spoilers I read...though I don't plan to rant here.

Anyways, from what I've read, the last few volumes of Haganai released rather intermittently compared to the initial volumes, and the general consensus seems to be that the author was dealing with a lot of issues with her publisher at the time. Apparently she even released a volume with no illustrations, and no author notes save for one blurb, "I am tired." The reason I found it curious was that, not only is this new series being released with an entirely new publisher, but the story seems to follow a light novel author. No idea if this series is an outlet to help explain some of her Haganai issues, but I can't deny being a bit curious in it.

If I have access to it, I plan to try it out. With zero knowledge of it, I would have assumed it's a new Eromanga-sensei (which I probably would have watched anyway tbf)...but who knows. First episode comes out this weekend, though I'll wait a few weeks to decide it I like it or not.
