From my perspective, which honestly may be very wrong because I'm an American looking at it from the outside the crime caused my refugees seems to be way more isolated than some would have you believe. Yes there are issues with both Islamic terrorism and the amount of people some nations let in within a short period of time but when you take into account all of the rapes and murders and major terrorist attacks it really is no worse than a typical day in the United States. I feel as if there are many truths behind the problems people typically bring up in regards of the refugee crisis but part of the problem probably comes down to the media making more money off of fear and violence than good news. |
I think you're fairly correct.
Part of the issue is that the media makes crime committed by certain groups more "important" than crime committed by others; and they make it as big as if there was a war going on where hundreds of thousands have been killed, and you're in danger too. Then they attribute that crime to a much larger group of people (Muslims) instead of more refined levels, like Daesh/ISIS members. Although, personally speaking, I do believe that all people deserve individuality regardless of what culture, gender, or race, etc... that they belong to. If someone wants to dress up in all black, they shouldn't be considered a mass murderer or any more a potential mass murderer than someone dressed up in colourful clothes; even if some famous mass murderers liked to dress up that way (like columbine).
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
