Basically, Star Trek is a license and legacy rape. It's not in line with anything Gene Roddenberry would have ever wanted his show to be.
CBS also fired all of the remaining writers and producers from Roddenberry's time and shortly thereafter, who were protecting his legacy - this include Brian Fuller (Also recently well known for American Gods and Hannibal).
In addition, CBS has also reneged Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek license which allowed for fan made productions - they didn't scrap it completely, but now there are huge limitations - including preventing old actors from acting in the shows - so that means the people who are quite possibly the most passionate fans with the capital to actually make these can no longer do it.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
