Not to mention that 3DS needed a price cut to average 60K weekly.

In fairness, the 3DS was putting up 55-60k+ a week without a big game released. Switch has Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart, 3DS wouldn't get Mario 3D Land until the first week of November 2011. 

Switch beating the 3DS in Japan is not a given.
