The fact that the PS4 is doing as well as it is in Japan is the bigger surprise here, because it seemed the japanese had all but sworn off home consoles at this point. Everybody knows that portable + Japan will always work, that's a no-brainer.
I'm not trying to detract from the Switch's success, it has been a great launch right from the gate. It will be interesting to see what kind of legs it will have after the initial excitement is done and the hardcore fans have all gotten their machines. Remember, it hasn't even surpassed the Wii U yet ;)
