They can't handle variation right now. So if you are just building one board then they are fine. If you are producing numerous different boards then they usually can't handle it (except SMT line which has programs for each different board, once you get off SMT line then it becomes harder to automate for different boards/customers). Technology for variation isn't there yet for certain tasks such as ICT testing or Rail/Flowsolder (placing through hole parts). Still cheaper to pay someone low wage than to deal with a buggy robot thats trying to do more than one thing. The technology will eventually get there but it is still a ways off. |
At foxconn in Kunshan? Why you stay? It is certainly not a death city/region yet but if you go their every year you can clearly see it is schrinking.
