That was the genius of it. The dialogue was entertaining and real as supposed to forced slapstick. It's the kind of dialogue that you tend to naturally have with friends etc. 

 

The original Ghostbusters was about a group of friends who had distinctive personalities that people can relate to. The nerdy friend who grafts, the lucky. Popular shit who waltzes through life etc. 

 

Naturally, there are different forms of comedy: slapstick, intelligent comedy, sexual comedy, political comedy etc. The original and reboot are on the opposite ends of the spectrum. 

 

The fact remains that Sony didn't deliver what people wanted and as a result it flopped. Yes, they will be fans of the new one but the largest target audience was left out and as a result they lost out big.
