Ok, so let's do a little math here.
The Splatoon 1 did 148,448 in its first week according to VGC. According to Famitsu, Splatoon 2 did roughly 671,000.
148,448 divided by 671,000 is approximately .2212339791, or 22.12339791%
So, now let's look at the international numbers of Splatoon 1 in comparison.

In North America. the first game managed 130,917 units.
Europe: 104,328 units
The Rest of the World:34,850 units.
Combined with Japan, the worldwide first weeks numbers were 418,543 units.
Now, let's divided all those numbers by that 22.12339791% mark.
If Splatoon 2 followed the same pattern, the numbers would look like this:

N.A. - 591,758
Europe - 471,473
Rest of the World - 157,525
Worldwide - 1,891,756 million units in its first week.

I seriously don't think THAT'S going to happen, especially how my prediction for Japan was lower than I predicted, albeit by just 21,000 units.
To be REALLY conservative, I'll cut the N.A., Europe, and RotW numbers in half.
N.A. - 295,879
Europe - 235,736
RotW - 78,762
This would equate to a worldwide launch of 1,281,377. Making it the best opening for a Nintendo Switch game, just barely beating out Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's 1,224,415 million.
So, the worldwide numbers should be very impressive. But I I was still hoping for more from Japan.
