I beat everything on the highest difficulty and unlocked everything in less than three weeks when the game came out in 2003. It definitely doesn't take months of practice. If I consider a game to have unfair difficulty, then that's going to hold true for 99% of the other gamers out there, so it makes sense to dock points from the review score. Losing because of something that isn't your own fault isn't fun and the score represents how entertaining a game is. Unfair difficulty and/or lacking control are frustrating and people feel cheated when that happens.

You said story mode had to be made unfair, otherwise it would feel like any other cup. But other than chapter 7, all remaining chapters have unique conditions and objectives. Story mode is unfair either because the developers were incompetent or because they were assholes. Either way, it's not designed in an acceptable way. Make no mistake though, a good story mode wouldn't have made GX better than a 6/10, because GP mode is the real meat of the game and its course design has too many problems. For those it doesn't matter which difficulty you play on, because they are always present.

My review states that many tracks are too long which is defined as lap times of around one minute. Lightning Road and Green Plant in the AX cup are even longer, so they are obviously included in this complaint.

yes it takes months of practice.. you have to be an insane person to beat story mode on your first run every time you play it, and GP mode on highest difficulty is no joke either.

i dont care about the score.. you could have given it a good 7/10 and it would change nothing about what i think of your review. i did not say it had to be unfair but why it is unfair..and that is your biggest flaw here, not accepting a challenge. its testing your skills left and right, its something every gamer should be proud of completing and every gamer try, but your review will surely make that impossible for some..

short tracks are over in a heartbeat so longer tracks make for a well balanced GP mode. long or short, tracks have variety in them, and very rarely do they feel the same..by justing saying that they are too long makes no sense, but its your biased review and i except that.
