Are game controllers too complicated?

I'm really amazed by the amount of voters saying they aren't complex enough. For the first time in my life I feel really out of synch with hardcore gamers, I guess I am getting old. It sounds like you guys want the controller equivalent of an RAF cockpit.

My first console was the Atari 2600 in the mid 80's 🙂. I love the simplicity of using few buttons and only a d-pad but games consistently become more versatile and we need more buttons to cater to them. It is a flaw for example, that I need to move my index finger or my thumb while playing an FPS, and more buttons on the bottom of the controller would help get rid of that problem. But it can be a bit overwhelming, especially when game developera are bad at creating a good layout.
