Well probably they did not announced yet even 1/3 of Switch 2018. lineup yet, and this E3 was very strong for Nintendo even without Retros announcement, of course they will not show everything they have and that will save some big anancuments for later.

3.5 years of silence is a pretty strong indication that things aren't going well. If they are working on a major project, then as another poster pointed out, it is very likely stuck in development hell.
