Perhaps, Nintendo is generally the most influential software developer in existence. But I don't think Odyssey's impact will be any more significant than Mario Galaxy. It's a somewhat similar level of hype, maybe a little lower. It also doesn't do as much in the way of new things The issue with games like Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Galaxy/Odyssey being influential is that there's almost no other developers that have the resources to create similar sorts of experiences. The reason Wii Sports was so influential in kicking off the motion gaming genre was because the developers had the resources to make their Kinect Sports, Zumba Fitness, and Just Dances. All the same, where Mario Galaxy was most influential was in interface and gameplay mechanics. Little doubt Zelda and Mario Odyssey will have a similar impact on the industry as a whole; but, I doubt we'll see full scale clones of either game.
